Doctor Clinic

Trusted animal care, rooted in Nairobi.

The Animal Doctor Vet Clinic has been keeping pets healthy, farmers productive, and animals safe across Nairobi and Central Kenya since 2018.

Our story

The Animal Doctor started in a converted Westlands garage with one examination table, a borrowed microscope, and a conviction that Nairobi deserved a vet clinic that treats every animal — and every owner — with equal respect.

Dr. Sarah Kamau had spent five years working at government veterinary stations across Kenya. She saw first-hand how difficult it was for pet owners and smallholder farmers alike to access reliable, affordable vet care. Clinics were under- equipped, referrals took weeks, and farm visits were almost non-existent.

Today, our clinic in Nairobi's Westlands area serves thousands of clients — from apartment-dwelling dog parents to dairy farmers in Kiambu County. We've grown to a team of 15, invested in an in-house diagnostic lab, and operate a dedicated mobile unit for farm and livestock calls. The garage is long gone; the ethos is exactly the same.

What we stand for

Care that starts with character.

Our values aren't a poster on the wall. They show up in how we handle your pet, what we tell you about costs, and how we treat your time.

Compassion first

Every animal — whether a Nairobi apartment cat or a herd of dairy cattle in Kiambu — deserves gentle, stress-free care.

Honest guidance

We explain every diagnosis, every option, and every cost before we proceed. No surprises, no upselling.

Always available

Emergencies don't wait for business hours. Our on-call line is open 24/7 for critical cases.

Community rooted

We run free vaccination drives in Kibera, Mathare, and rural Kiambu because access to vet care shouldn't depend on your postcode.

Preventive mindset

Regular check-ups, timely vaccinations, and nutrition advice keep your animals healthy and your vet bills low.

Modern practice

In-house lab, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and a fully equipped surgical suite — right here in Nairobi.

Meet the vets

Your animals are in good hands.

Every member of our team is qualified, passionate about animals, and committed to ongoing professional development.

Dr. Sarah Kamau graduated from the University of Nairobi's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. After rotations at the Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute and field postings in Nakuru and Nyandarua Counties, she returned to Nairobi determined to open a practice that bridged the gap between companion-animal medicine and livestock care.

In 2018, she founded The Animal Doctor with a single goal: make quality veterinary care accessible to every pet owner and farmer who walks through the door — or needs a vet to come to the farm. Eight years later, the clinic has grown into one of Nairobi's most trusted practices, handling everything from puppy vaccinations to complex bovine surgeries.

Happy pet owner at The Animal Doctor

“I drove from Thika with a very sick German Shepherd at 11 pm. Dr. Joseph was already prepping surgery by the time I arrived. My dog is alive because of this team.”
