Vaccinations & Deworming

Keep the diseases away, not the adventures.

Vaccinations are one of the most effective and affordable ways to protect your pet against serious, often fatal diseases. A single vaccine can prevent conditions that cost tens of thousands of shillings to treat — if they're treatable at all.

We administer core vaccines for dogs — distemper, parvovirus, canine hepatitis, and rabies — and for cats — feline panleukopenia, calicivirus, herpesvirus, and rabies. Beyond the core set, we assess your pet's lifestyle, environment, and travel habits to recommend additional lifestyle vaccines like kennel cough (Bordetella), leptospirosis, and feline leukaemia (FeLV).

Deworming is equally critical. Intestinal parasites — roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, and whipworms — are common in Kenya's warm climate and can cause weight loss, anaemia, diarrhoea, and in severe cases, life-threatening bowel obstruction. Some parasites are also zoonotic, meaning they can spread to humans, especially children.

We build a personalised vaccination and parasite-prevention calendar for every patient — from first puppy or kitten shots through to annual adult boosters — and send you SMS reminders so nothing falls through the cracks.

Frequently asked questions

When should my puppy or kitten start vaccinations?
The primary vaccination course typically starts at 6–8 weeks of age, with boosters at 3–4 week intervals until 16 weeks. Rabies is given at 12 weeks or older.
Are there any side effects?
Mild lethargy or slight swelling at the injection site for 24–48 hours is normal. Serious reactions are very rare. We monitor your pet for 15 minutes after every injection.
My adult dog has never been vaccinated — is it too late?
Not at all. Adult dogs can start a primary vaccination course at any age. We'll design a catch-up schedule that gets them fully protected as quickly as safely possible.
How often does my pet need boosters?
Core vaccines are typically boosted annually or every three years depending on the product. We follow the latest WSAVA guidelines for Kenya. Deworming is recommended every 3 months for most pets.
Do you provide vaccination certificates for travel?
Yes. We issue official rabies certificates and can prepare the health documentation needed for domestic or international pet travel.
