Lab & Diagnostics

Answers in minutes, not days.

When your pet is unwell, waiting days for test results is stressful — for you and your animal. Our in-house diagnostic lab is designed to deliver most results within 30 minutes, so we can diagnose accurately and start treatment on the same visit.

Veterinarian reviewing lab results on screen

We run complete blood counts (CBC), blood chemistry panels (kidney, liver, glucose, electrolytes), urinalysis, faecal parasite screens, and skin scrapes on-site. For more specialised tests — hormonal assays, histopathology, culture and sensitivity — we partner with accredited reference laboratories in Nairobi with next-day turnaround.

Our imaging suite includes digital X-ray (radiography) for bones, chest, and abdominal assessment, plus ultrasound for soft-tissue evaluation. Ultrasound is particularly valuable for pregnancy confirmation, cardiac screening, abdominal organ checks, and guided sampling of suspicious masses.

Diagnostics aren't just for sick pets. Pre-surgical blood work ensures your pet is safe for anaesthesia. Wellness blood panels for senior pets catch kidney disease, diabetes, and thyroid problems months before symptoms appear. The earlier we detect, the better the outcome.

How it works

1

Clinical examination

The vet examines your pet first — diagnostics are guided by clinical findings, not ordered blindly.

2

Sample collection

Blood, urine, or other samples are collected gently. Most pets tolerate this very well with minimal stress.

3

In-house analysis

Samples are processed immediately. Results appear on-screen in 10–30 minutes depending on the test.

4

Diagnosis & treatment plan

The vet walks you through results in plain language, explains the diagnosis, and starts treatment the same day.

Vet explaining results to pet owner

Frequently asked questions

Why does my pet need blood work if it seems healthy?
Wellness blood panels can reveal kidney disease, liver problems, diabetes, and anaemia before any symptoms appear. This is especially important for senior pets (7+) and before any surgery involving anaesthesia.
Does blood collection hurt my pet?
It's similar to a human blood draw — a brief needle prick. Most pets tolerate it very well with gentle restraint. We can use numbing cream for anxious patients.
How quickly will I get results?
In-house tests (CBC, chemistry, urinalysis) are typically ready in 15–30 minutes. Reference lab tests (histopathology, hormones) take 1–3 business days.
Can you email me the results?
Absolutely. We'll walk you through the results in person and can email or WhatsApp a copy of the report for your records.
Does my pet need to fast before blood work?
For most chemistry panels, we recommend fasting for 8–12 hours (water is fine). We'll advise you when you book the appointment.
